Doctor advices public on what to do at an accident scene.

In Kenya, the number of road traffic injuries and deaths have been increasing and most times death happens in situations that are avoidable.

DEAR PUBLIC, ACCIDENT SCENE? DON’T FOCUS ON TAKING VIDEOS. HELP BY SIMPLE ABC…

Ensure the scene is safe, then:

A – Airway and neck : Lay the person on back, if unconscious, facing up to allow breathing. Be as gentle as possible with their neck and back.

Be careful throughout when moving the person so as not to aggrevate any neck and spine injuries that may be present

B – Breathing: If person is not breathing, start CPR if you have the skill

C – Circulation: If there is any obvious bleeding apply firm pressure or a bandage/clean cloth on the wound to stop/reduce the bleeding

Rush the person to a nearby hospital.
