YAK has partnered with URAIA-TRUST to implement an eight months (8) project dubbed “Kushiriki Ni Jukumu Letu – Phase II” that is designed to empower youth organizations including disabled persons organizations in West Pokot, Kisumu, Kajiado and Mombasa Counties to promote the implementation of pro-youth policies and holding duty-bearers accountable in delivering services through civic education. In addition, the civic education will enhance public participation in citizens-driven reform and good governance, democratic transformation and political leadership participation. The project’s objective is: “To increase youth Civil Society Organizations’ (CSOs) engagement in governance processes at County level for improved service delivery”.
The project intends to recruit 20 civic educators (5 per County) who will support the project on voluntary basis as civic educators. The team will work closely with the project officers in conducting civic educations outreaches on governance component and processes that includes devolved systems, guide community in taking civic actions that will facilitate for improved service delivery, assist in mobilization of the community to participate in County planning process at the ward level (County budget and, planning) and document.
